Yerevan Blues-Samvel Khachatryan
Tigran and Nune developed and are staging a play called “Shadows”. The novel presents the transcripts of the video recordings of their rehearsals. The planned premier is being canceled because of the mysterious disappearance of Nune. The relations between them were highly dependent. Nune was highly critical of Tigran and heavily criticized him for failing at mastering his role. After she is gone Tigran finds a woman who will replace Nune and uses the same methods from which he was suffering before. Another toxic and abusive relationship is developing and ends with a video recording of Tigran’s murder, orchestrated by himself and implemented by the womаn, who stays unknown.
On the background of the story is Yerevan city, with its contemporary problems such as lack of interest in any intellectual art, destruction of old city and construction of new faceless and soulless buildings. The story includes transcripts that Tigran did of radio and TV programs. This enriches the novel with the perceived taste and sound of the city vis-à-vis the modern trends.
