Connecting Armenians of the World.
$525.00
H18xW14in. The painting depicts a young Armenian girl holding a clay water jug with a small white (vannakatu), cat native to Van province of Western Armenia. Though most of her dress has the taraz, traditional dress, ornaments painted on, her skirt is filled with Armenian motifs and symbolism. On the right side there is the Van lake with fish, and the Akhtamar church on the hem of the skirt. On the left, you can see the tree of life with other small bodies of water, from that region. The painting is bordered by Armenian rug symbolism such as water, soil and farming.
