Women of Armenia (Hay Kanaik) is a series of pastel drawings by artist Lusine Tumanyan, made on the basis of historical photographs of Armenian girls and women of the late 19th-early 20th century that the author found in archives, libraries, books and catalogs. Behind each of the 15 images there is a difficult fate (slavery, persecution, death of loved ones from genocide and war), but all of them are Women of Armenia, proudly looking at us, dressed in a national costume or its interpretation. The goal of the artist was to transfer the image of the heroine, to not only remind us about the hardships experienced by Armenians at the turn of the century, but also to decoratively translate black and white photos into bright pastels, giving colors to ornaments, fabrics, jewelry and traditional clothes of Armenian women, known as Taraz. We have collected all the pastels in a set of postcards on decorative paper.
The set contains 15 postcards. On the back of each is an archival photo and the year the photograph was taken.
The postcards are packed in tissue paper, a cardboard envelope and a transparent bag
