Description

The historian Sebeos was the one to invent the name for the temple Zvartnots: “There he built a church called the heavenly Zvartnots “, which means a multitude of heavenly soldiers, Zvartnots or angels, who were blessed during the vision of St. Gregory.

In his “Armenological Etudes” book, Kamsar Avetisyan wrote the following: “It was named so, because it was dedicated to the heavenly rejoicers. “Rejoicer ” in Armenian means” angel “. So Zvartnots means “angelic “.
