Vendor Biography

Hi! I’m Liana Rustamyan from Yerevan, Armenia. I am an artist-designer specialized on batik. This is a profession that gives great pleasure to go on working with. I like to paint on different surfaces such as silk, glass, canvas, tiles, etc. I have worked in the “Mane Tiles” ceramic factory, in the mosaic department as an artist-designer where I have created mosaics both with my own drawings and with the artworks of famous artists. There I created my favorite theme, which I still paint with different improvisations․ It is the theme of the pomegranate, which is becoming one of the symbols of the Armenian identity today. I managed to present the pomegranate inside the pomegranate, have painted it not only red, but also with other colors of the palette. Today different variations of the Armenian alphabet are very accepted, especially the depiction of the Armenian bird letters on the silk. For a long time I have been developing the theme of bird letters on silk. I have illustrated the tiles with the Armenian petroglyphs. Later I reproduced the petroglyphs on silk. I present Vana fish (Alburnus tarichi widely known as the tarek) and flowers of Urfa from handmade embroideries on my silk scarves. Recently, I got inspired by the Urartian iconography, especially with illustrations on the Urartian belts. I am greatly inspired by the ornaments of the 11-17th century monuscript covers which are being kept in Matenadaran.
